By the time they got to the convoy that was being put together, SJ had donned his armor and checked all his weapons. The column looked impressive when he got there, and they were still adding to it. There were fourteen tanks, which meant a full company; three mobile guns, which he believed was a platoon; at least two dozen armored personnel carriers; and another dozen armored patrol vehicles.
They found Cheryl sitting in an APC in the middle of the mess looking over a bunch of orders and having a 'discussion' with a couple of army lieutenants. Said discussion consisting of her yelling at them, in her hybrid form, with her ears back as she browbeat the hell out of them.
Said lieutenants, both wolves, did not look happy. They looked even less happy when SJâwho was in his werelion form because faerie armor didn't shift, collar or no collarâshowed up.
"What seems to be the problem, Cheryl?" he growled. While he might not be happy she was here, right now, his wife was pissed off about something, and as a lion, that took priority.
"Apparently some people disagree with my disposition of forces within the column," she said, looking the two wolves over.
"Sir! She has the fuel trucks sitting at the back of the column with no protection at all! They'll be sitting ducks out there!"
SJ took a deep breath and sighed. "First of all, unless you want to experience the painful experience of me pulling your arms and legs off, you'll treat my wife with a lot more respect than I suspect you have been." He then growled at the two of them, who both went wide-eyed, and their tails tucked between their legs.
"Secondly, the people in chargeâwhich would be my wife Cheryl and myselfâdo not explain themselves to lieutenants! Is that clear?" he asked, still growling.
"Yes, sir," they both said meekly, and he was surprised they weren't pissing themselves, because he could feel that his mane was up, and he wasn't trying to hide how angry he was.
"If you have questions, ask your captain, and if he thinks you need to know, he'll tell you. Dismissed!"
He smirked as they fled the APC so fast, they'd have given a cheetah a run for its money.
"Wow! I thought you were going to start rending bodies there for a moment!" Cheryl said with a smile.
"Give it another minute, and he would have," Rania said.
"This is your first real command," SJ said, going over to sit down beside Cheryl, "so a few examples need to be made."
"Plus you're a member of the pride now," Dania said with a grin, "and lions get all sorts of pissy when anyone gives one of their wives a hard time."
"They do?"
"Yes, we do," SJ said with a smile, then leaning over, he gave her a kiss. "Now, I haven't been briefed on any of this, so please enlighten me about the fuel trucks?"
"Oh, only a few of them are carrying fuel. The rest are actually water trucks, just repainted to look like fuel trucks.
